Roger Munns has been volunteering with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity for 7 years. When he isn’t volunteering at Habitat he is also volunteering with Free Clinic in Des Moines and the Free Store that is also in Des Moines. Before spending all his time volunteering, Roger spent 30 years as a journalist and his last 15 years of his career working for the state department of Human Services as the Public Information Officer.

Why does this volunteer deserve to be recognized with a 50 Faces of Volunteers spotlight? Roger is thankful. That is something that is hard to miss about Roger.
“I have been fortunate in life, I have 3 healthy wonderful children and I have been happily married for 40 years. I am so grateful for my life. That is why I think that it is important to give back and help others less fortunate.” – Roger Munn
Roger stands out as a volunteer because of how much he believes in the mission of bringing people together to build a community. He also truly enjoys the work that he is doing and being able to do if with like minded people. His friendliness with the volunteers and passion is really contagious.
